20/04/2005 Guildford Borough Council get Best Value

Guildford Borough Council LogoOver the past 20 years Guildford Council Print Unit has built up a comprehensive facility almost covering the whole print cycle. To date they have managed to achieve their target of keeping the majority of the council Print contracts in-house and now boast to print over 30 million A4 products per year.

The result of increasing business meant they soon found that they were outgrowing their in-house MIS.

Mike Cheshire of Guildford Borough Print unit advised. “Our main objective was to ensure we offered the most efficient service to departments as possible. The initial step was to invest in a new MIS and so we examined the products on offer. With the advent of ‘Best Value’ it became increasingly necessary to monitor not just cost, but effectiveness and quality levels. We felt Tharstern would best support our objectives and represented excellent value with reliable back up support.”

Mike added. “Tharstern will provide us with important production information which we currently don’t have. At the moment we believe we know where our inefficiencies are but with Tharstern we will know for sure and will be able to pin-point areas for improvement.”
