Tharstern launch T3 at IPEX 2006 - 27/03/2006 - Tharstern Limited

27/03/2006 Tharstern launch T3 at IPEX 2006

At IPEX Tharstern are also introducing TharsternSQL version 3,or T3! The latest incarnation of their powerful SQL based solution, to replace TharsternSQL v2, includes new functionality such as Bill of Materials & Warehousing to provide an up-to-date solution to answer the challenges of today’s printing industry.

Each time Tharstern has introduced a new version they have always incorporated the latest technologies and dramatically enhanced the performance power, and T3 is no different. With faster data search capabilities using ‘intellisense’, data can be located quicker based on analysis of common search criteria.

Tharstern have also illustrated their commitment to making JDF automation a reality for printers by including their JDF gateway device as a standard feature of T3 and so less prohibitive with the costs.

The Interface of T3 retains its clean ergonomic style reflecting the look and feel of Microsoft® XP and the added bonus of being able to view Outlook® emails and appointments within the new Tharstern homepage. The customisable Dashboard style page also acts as a ‘task manager’ providing a view of tasks that have been created or assigned within Tharstern. Tasks canT3 'Task Manager' homepage quickly be created with set reminders, and optionally assigned to an individual other than the originator, within any area of Tharstern and linked to specific documents, e.g. an estimate or a job. Every module also supports the ability to tag ‘Notes’ to pertinent areas and both the notes and tasks maintains a read/unread status for each user and can be flagged as high priority to cause it to ‘pop-up’.

T3 is also in keeping with Tharstern’s reputation of listening to and acting upon customer feedback by including context sensitive help, an enhanced production interface and new features such as Bill of Materials (BOM) and Warehousing that address key changes in the Printing Industry.

The new BOM and Warehousing module enhances the sales order, production and supply chain management features by offering Kitting support and Multi Stock Location management. The feature allows for unlimited levels of quantity and volume driven storage of stock and is fully customisable with the aid of a Wizard location creator. The solution will also automatically suggest storage location based on similar categories or customer stock and provides views of each stock by location and location by stock.

The Kitting element of this module provides a dedicated BOM stock explosion display detailing make-up capabilities with unlimited hierarchical levels of manufactured and non manufactured items. Assembly jobs are also created along with any associated job and purchase requisitions. The assembly job also provides a BOM view to track assembly process and manufacture / purchase required components.

TharsternSQL is already used by over 700 printers worldwide but T3 now lends itself to a more global market with the customisable field labels feature that allows any text used within the suite, to be replaced with your preferred term or language.

Tharstern have, without doubt, presented their most advanced MIS solution packed with too many new features and functionality to list here. We all know that today’s printing industry is a tough business with decreasing margins and increased competitiveness, to offer lower prices and higher quality, to grab the customer’s attention. T3 promises to help a printer thrive in this environment by applying efficiencies across the entire business; providing accurate information to hand and identifying KPI’s, reducing overheads and administration, strengthening communication and helping businesses to get the best out of the equipment they’ve got.
